Explore DeLong Packaging's Sustainable Journey and Discover a World of Eco-Friendly Manufacturing
Business Consultation, Web Design, Web Development and Content Creation
DeLong Packaging, a global manufacturing powerhouse with revenues exceeding $23 million in 2021, faced a significant challenge. Dissatisfied with their previous developer's design and professionalism, they sought a partner who could not only revamp their digital presence but also align it with their commitment to environmental sustainability. The challenge was to create a visually appealing website that not only met their brand standards but also highlighted their dedication to environmental responsibility.
At kick-off, we initiated a thorough discovery process. Listening to every detail was our priority. Our goal was to create a website that surpassed their expectations, capturing their essence and commitment.
Understanding DeLong's values and sustainable efforts was the first step. We collaborated closely with the client to identify the key aspects of their operations that needed to be showcased. It was essential to communicate their dedication to minimizing waste and environmental consciousness.
Our web design approach was driven by a clear understanding of DeLong Packaging's branding. The design had to be visually appealing, on-brand, and user-friendly. We ensured the site's flow and structure were in line with their identity.
To effectively communicate their sustainability initiatives, we received the client's copywriting and photographs via Google Drive. Our copywriters conducted a meticulous proofread and edited minor errors to enhance the overall flow of the site. The content needed to mirror DeLong Packaging's commitment to sustainability.
DeLong Packaging had several outstanding programs that supported their sustainable efforts. The most prominent highlight was that their factory was entirely powered by renewable energy. We carefully selected a color palette that complemented their branding and reflected their eco-friendly values. Within just three weeks, we delivered a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that aligned with their vision.
The transformation of DeLong Packaging into a sustainable brand was a remarkable success. Our collaborative approach to business consultation, web design, development, and content creation allowed us to create a website that not only met their brand standards but also celebrated their dedication to environmental responsibility.
The case of DeLong Packaging is a testament to how a strong partnership, thoughtful design, and strategic content creation can redefine a brand and align it with its core values.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the project manager at DeLong Packaging and a student at Georgetown University.
What challenge were you trying to address with Creative Coffee?
It was part of a project. At first, we only needed to research how to create a website, but I decided to make the website come true. We were entering the US market, so we wanted to create an English website for our clients.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They designed and developed our website from scratch. They initially gave us a couple of options; then, they used Webflow to build the site.
Their marketing background helped them create the website. They knew our target audience, so they knew how to attract it. They also did copywriting and content; we’d done that ourselves prior, but they still double-checked it for us.
In general, the goal was to show the company culture instead of showing the product. They built a live chat and connected the site to the Alibaba homepage. Also, they suggested displaying the Alibaba logo a little smaller because most American clients don’t think Alibaba is a high standard for B2B businesses.
Additionally, they arranged the purchasing process into steps to facilitate the purchase for users and allow them to get the company better. They also gave us a video tutorial on how to change items like images or videos on the website by ourselves.
What is the team composition?
We worked with Jennifer (Web Designer & Founder). Additionally, specific people were assigned to check the copywriting.
How did you come to work with Creative Coffee?
I asked my professor to introduce me to someone, and she introduced me to another professor who gave me the name of a web designer. Unfortunately, the whole project was terrible. The web designer didn’t respect me, so I decided to terminate the contract with him. It was an awful process, so I had to find someone else to take care of my project.
Jennifer also graduated from Georgetown University; we had a class together. I found her on LinkedIn and saw her profile. She designed websites, so I reached out to see if she could help me with the project. I explained the whole situation to her, and even though she was very busy, she made time for me.
Additionally, their price was very competitive and reasonable. Before I started working with Creative Coffee, I received quotes for more than $5,000.
How much have you invested in them?
We spent $3,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them in October 2022. The project lasted 3–4 weeks.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Creative Coffee designed and developed the website very quickly. I showed the site to my professor and other people, and they liked it and found it to be eye-catching and memorable.
How did Creative Coffee perform from a project management standpoint?
They were upfront about the price, and there were no extra charges. Moreover, we were in contact every week. With the previous designer, we didn’t have any voice or video calls; the communication was terrible. On the other hand, Creative Coffee was great at sharing the progress. We had two-way communication on a weekly basis, which was very helpful. We also met in person in the beginning and used emails and texts to keep in touch.
Additionally, they created separate folders on Google Drive to upload all the files and pictures and keep them organized.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were always willing to help with any changes and details. Creative Coffee exceeded our expectations; the price was reasonable, and the results were outstanding. Most website designers only know how to build a website, but they don’t have additional marketing knowledge. However, Creative Coffee was able to satisfy our customers’ needs and make an eye-catching site.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, everything was good and clear for both parties. If there were any corrections, I could make a to-do list in Google Docs, and they took care of it.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I’d encourage anyone to get in touch with them. The only thing you need to worry about is paying the invoice on time; Creative Coffee will take care of everything else.
